Initially, I didn’t understand why, as a mother of five with one on the way, I needed to take parenting classes. Honestly, it felt like an insult to my parenting. By the time I started services with Overflowing with M.O.O.R.E., I had already been a mother for 17 years, so never in a million years did I think I would need this kind of support.

 

However, being open-minded completely changed my perspective. One of the biggest things I learned is that you will never know everything as a parent, and there is always room to grow. I learned just how important healthy communication is inside the home and how to better communicate with my children.

 

Because of our living situation and distance, it has been difficult for my children to build a close bond with one another. Through what I learned, I began creating more opportunities for healthy communication, allowing my children to have a voice, and making sure they knew they had a safe space with me. Seeing my children become closer to each other and closer to me has been one of the most refreshing parts of this experience.

 

I have implemented so much of what I learned in the parenting classes into my everyday life. The mentoring program was amazing as well, and I highly recommend Overflowing with M.O.O.R.E.
